About Festivals Australia

Festivals Australia is an Australian Government program which funds Australian regional and community festivals to present quality cultural projects. Funding is available to add a new or special sort of cultural activity.

To be eligible for funding, an activity must not have been previously presented and must be one that could not be afforded without the funding.

Round 31 now open - closing date 15 July 2010

Changes to the Festivals Australia guidelines, application and submission processes

The guidelines and application form for Round 31 Festivals Australia have been updated. These are different from previous funding round documents. Please carefully read the documents and only use the application form for Round 31.

The application form has been revised and a separate budget spreadsheet has been developed. There is now one application form for both small and large projects. Applicants must provide budget information on the excel template provided. Formulae embedded in the spreadsheet will ensure accuracy and consistency of figures. If you wish to provide additional budget information you can include it with your application as an attachment.
To increase efficiency applicants are asked to limit responses to the questions in the application form.

The lodgment process for Round 31 has also changed. Details of the new submission process by email, hand delivery and post are clearly detailed in the guidelines and on the cover of the application form. No late applications will be accepted.

How does Festivals Australia work?

There are two funding rounds a year. They are advertised nationally, with closing dates of 15 February for projects starting after 1 July and 15 July for projects starting after 1 January.

If the notional closing date falls on a weekend, the actual closing date will be the following Monday.
