Walisuma De Los Andes
Walisuma is a group of South American born musicians who perform the timeless music of the Andes. Hailing from Peru, Bolivia and Chile, Walisuma de los Andes rekindle the ancient spirits of the mountains with timeless songs and traditional instruments. Their instrumentation includes the Quena, one of the oldest Andean instruments once made from the wing bones of the condor and the Charango, the only stringed instrument native to the Andes region made out of armadillo shells or wood.
The members of Walisuma are Genaro Chuquicallata from Peru, David Zapata from Peru, Mario Conde from Bolivia, and Miguel Ayma from Bolivia.
Bringing the Mary River Communities together to celebrate the wealth and abundance that the river brings to our region through drama, music, art, fun, education and environmental discussions and displays.
